We use oyster sauce in many of our stir-fries, fried rice and 30 minute bowls. When combined with soy sauce, it produces a deep, umami flavor. There were quite a few that were asking for vegetarian alternatives.
I would recommend Lee Kum Kee’s Vegetarian Stir-Fry Sauce as a substitute to regular oyster sauce.
It’s flavored by Shiitake Mushrooms and produces a very similar taste.
Does Oyster Sauce actually contain bits of oysters??
It contains oyster extract – basically the juices. But you find a “bits” of oysters in it.
